We look forward to caring for your child and welcome you to our family.
Welcome
Our Philosophy
We believe that the first years of a child's life is by far the most important, helping to lay the foundation for all intellectual and emotional development to follow. Each and every day we feel privileged to have the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of a child, to join in their laughter, and to be included in their games. This is how we have chosen to spend our days. The staff at BFTS Childcare are very tolerant individuals with an enormous amount of patience. This coupled with our love for children makes us nurturing childcare providers. Having just one precious child of my own, I totally understand how difficult it is to leave your child in someone else's care. Because of this, I can truly appreciate the trust you must put in us on a daily basis. Therefore, our goal is to build your trust by being professional, dependable, honest, and most importantly care for your child the same way I insisted my son was cared for. All of us here at BFTS Childcare view our chosen profession as a career, not just a job. Therefore, we look forward to keeping your children smiling and safe for many years to come.
We feel that good communication between parent and provider is a very important part of a quality daycare. Because of this, we are committed to creating a strong bond with you and your child, helping to ensure the best start to your child's life. Our goal is that you feel completely confident and reassured when you leave your child in our care. Each child is different, unique, and special and will be treated as such. These carefree years are far too short. Therefore, we do not rush children through this fun filled time in their lives. Rather, each child is encouraged to develop and grow at their own pace. We understand that you trust us to care for your child, and we take this responsibility very seriously. We look forward to the opportunity to care for your child, while providing a positive influence in their life.
Our Mission
Bright From The Start Childcare, INC. is dedicated to the belief that all children are unique and flourish best in a small group environment. A high teacher-child ratio provides the most comforting and efficient way to transition a child from the safe environs of the family to the school experience. At the same time we provide the first and most important social, linguistic, and cognitive skills appropriate for that individual child’s growth. Children learn real world structure best by focusing on the primary rules of social engagement, using negotiation and recognition of the needs and feelings of peers. Positive reinforcement, firmness, kindness, and the encouragement of their growing verbal skills are the keys to guiding the success of their first and sometimes awkward attempts at social mastery and the establishment of personality within a group. Rapid cognitive development occurs through exposure to a wide variety of unusual and stimulating activities that appeal to their naturally high levels of creativity.
Curriculum
BFTS Childcare offers a developmentally appropriate, educational curriculum for toddlers and preschoolers. We focus on social and emotional development as well as physical movement and creative expression. Our programs combine hands-on activities, imaginative play and real life experiences which foster learning at each age level. We believe that play is work for young children, allowing them to develop an important understanding of the world around them.
The 2 year old program
Our Twos Program is structured to help your child learn socially and cognitively. Theme based stories, singing, creative art, letters, numbers, colors, and shapes are all daily parts of our program. This program is specially designed to support the transition from toddlerhood to the early preschool years. Two year olds crave independence and are curious and eager to learn. During this significant developmental period, the Twos program at BFTS offers a gentle introduction to the group experience while responding to the two-year old child’s need to explore the world and exercise independence. This program is tailored to each child’s interests and developmental stage, and it is organized to a child’s sensibilities, making it easy for them to share, play, and learn how to choose what interests them most. This program offers a stimulating curriculum brought forth through play. Two year olds want to be independent. They want to explore, touch and mimic their peers and teachers. Our curriculum focuses on language arts and literacy, mathematics, science, social and emotional development, gross and fine motor development and character education. Through learning centers and age-appropriate playgrounds, our two year olds have the ability to work at their own pace and learn to do tasks independently.
The 3 year old program
This program is specially designed to support the transition from toddlerhood to the early preschool years. Three year olds crave independence and are curious and eager to learn. During this significant developmental period, this program offers an introduction to the group experience while responding to the child’s need to explore the world and exercise independence.
Three year olds want to be independent. They want to explore, touch and mimic their peers and teachers. Our curriculum focuses on language arts and literacy, mathematics, science, social and emotional development, gross and fine motor development and character education. Through learning centers and age-appropriate playgrounds, our children have the ability to work at their own pace and learn to do tasks independently.
The 4 and 5 year old program
This program is designed as an older preschool program for children ages four and five. Typically, children enter the program as young four-year-olds, and turn five over the course of the school year. This older preschool program selects themes for its integrated curriculum by drawing from the children’s ability to describe in detail their interests and experiences, given their cognitive thinking and memory skills. These foundational skills make possible next steps in social development, and allow for the nuances of “having a friend and being a friend”. This program setting offers stepping stones to more formal school settings, including working in individual, small and large group activities. These additional challenges provide opportunities to continue building on self-esteem, verbal communication and conflict resolution skills. As vital components of Early Childhood Programs, learning centers offer developmentally appropriate opportunities for children to interact with each other, with materials, and with concepts and ideas. These centers include block building, dramatic play, science, music, manipulatives, sensory motor, art, library, language arts, computers and math. Small group activities also include story time, movement, music and literacy.
Curriculum Enhancements
Bright From The Start Childcare, INC. offers several enhancements to the daily routines of our children. The children will be taught introductory Spanish as a part of their curriculum. Our martial arts program will be a fun and educational physical fitness program geared to young children. And our music program will be an educational music program for young children. In addition, computers will be used as a part of our curriculum.
Enrollment
Once you have visited the program and there is space available for your child, you will be provided with an application and other enrollment forms. You will also receive a Child Profile Sheet, which provides us with detailed information about your child. If your child has special needs, please discuss this prior to enrollment, to assure that the needs can be managed. If there are no openings you will be placed on a list for future enrollment and contacted as soon as space becomes available. We recognize that most parents generally need childcare immediately and we understand that your child may be placed by the time space becomes available, but we want to stress that we truly appreciate your interest in Bright From Start Childcare, INC. and perhaps we can accommodate you in the future.

Due to the safety of all children we ask that you limit your time in the facility during drop off and pick up times. When leaving at the end of the day, check your child’s cubby for messages, children’s artwork, or soiled clothing. Please replenish supplies the next day.
Attendance Sheets

Discipline
Bright From The Start Childcare, INC. uses positive discipline techniques such as making our expectations clear, reminders, and redirection before resorting to time-outs and taking privileges away. Physical and emotional punishments WILL NOT be used in my daycare. You will be informed if a problem persists or if I need cooperation from home so that we can be more consistent in what is expected. Routine problems will be handled without making a big deal of them.
Nap Time

Our rest period is typically from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm although this may change based on the ages of children in care. To avoid disturbing the children who are napping, please do not schedule visits, drop-offs or pick-ups during this time. If you must pick up your child during quiet time please notify me in advance so that I can have your child ready for your arrival. Parents are required to bring any items needed for their child's nap... a sheet, blanket, favorite stuffed animal etc. It is the responsibility of each parent to wash your child's sheets/blankets at the end of the week and return to the provider by the start of the following week. Daily Outdoor Play
Your child should have comfortable, washable and weather appropriate clothing and footwear at all times. We go outside year-round. Please make sure your child has an extra set of clothing in his cubby at all times in case of emergency. All clothing MUST be labeled.
Birthdays
Birthdays are special events for children of all ages. We celebrate every child’s Birthday with a special Birthday Circle. Any refreshments brought from home should be simple and easy to serve, (cupcakes, donuts) and must be peanut/gelatin free for all children to enjoy. Children may decorate their own individual crown the morning of the Birthday Circle in honor of the birthday child.
Family Pictures
We feel we are all part of one big family here at Bright From The Start Childcare. We like to get to know each family personally. We start this process by asking each child to bring to school two or three family pictures at the start of their enrollment. We have a “family wall,” where pictures are displayed for all to see. In addition to family pictures, we will take a photo of your child for attendance purposes.
